The Decline of Ubisoft

Added: 14.11.2014 23:11 | 15 views | 0 comments

OnlySP: The past couple of years have been good for Ubisoft. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag was received to both critical and commercial acclaim at the end of last year, and at the same time the hype for Watch Dogs was approaching the stratosphere, as well as for South Park: The Stick Of Truth. PC gamers were back on board after their ridiculous always-on DRM was canned. And last but not least: not one but two new Assassins Creed games were planned for 2014 the series which was Ubisofts cash cow by a mile. A year later the wheels seem to be falling off somewhat so what happened?

Assassin's Creed Rogue Review: Templars and Déja Vu | Gamer Headlines

Added: 14.11.2014 19:17 | 12 views | 0 comments

Gamer Headlines writes: Assassins Creed: Rogue is a hard game for me to analyse and break down. Part of me embraces the fact that it is mechanically identical to any other AC game that came before, but I also wish it would be more than just that. You see, Rogue is an extremely safe bet for Ubisoft as it uses the same groundwork introduced with last years Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag with a huge emphasis on naval exploration and travelling from island to island, yet, other than its different take on the entire Assassins vs. Templars narrative template, it doesnt have anything significantly interesting or relatively new that will keep you invested during its 6 hour long story, or 20-30 hours if you plan on accomplishing everything the game has to offer. While playing through Rogue, all I kept asking myself was: Has the Assassins Creed franchise run its course, or am I just tired of playing the same game from Ubi every year now? Although Rogue isnt a breakthrough in the Action...

Assassins Creed Unity Review | PlayStationing

Added: 13.11.2014 10:11 | 11 views | 0 comments

Shak @ PlayStationing writes: "Assassins Creed has now become a staple when it comes to what we can expect during the holiday season, similar to the Call of Duty franchise. However, as with the Call of Duty franchise, a certain amount of fatigue has begun to set in when Assassins Creed is mentioned. Last years Assassins Creed Black Flag was surprisingly refreshing when compared to the fairly slow paced Assassins Creed 3, however there were still elements that frustrated many gamers. Assassins Creed Unity is the first game in the series that is is only available for current generation platforms, meaning it has not been held back by the last generation consoles. However, does that mean we can see a marked improvement, or is it just a step above like the other games in the series."

(WGB) Assassins Creed: Unity Review One Small Stab For Mankind

Added: 12.11.2014 22:11 | 8 views | 0 comments

Baden of WGB: "Although I adored Assassins Creed: Black Flag there was no denying that the core mechanics of the series were falling apart, the once glorious parkour and stealth systems laboring to remain remotely relevant in a world where such things have been done so much better. Sailing the high seas was fun, but Assassins Creed needed to die and be reborn."

Review: Assassin's Creed Unity - Destructoid

Added: 12.11.2014 11:11 | 16 views | 0 comments

Destructoid: "Assassin's Creed IV was a turning point for the series. While a lot of fans were disappointed by the pointless Revelations and the polarizing Assassin's Creed III, Black Flag delivered everything you could possibly want from Ubisoft, and then some. Fans embarked on quite the adventure with Edward Kenway, and many newcomers even described it as a pirate game that happens to be Assassin's Creed."

XBA Review - Assassin's Creed Unity

Added: 12.11.2014 2:11 | 10 views | 0 comments

XBA: "I didn't believe Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag to be the return to form for the series as some thought it to be. Its naval warfare quickly grew wearisome and the less said about the interminable tail and eavesdrop missions, the better. As far as new-gen Assassin's Creed is concerned, I'd decided to pin my hopes on Assassin's Creed Unity instead, but it's not quite the game I hoped it would be."

Assassins Creed: Unity First Impressions and Gameplay Video | The Koalition

Added: 12.11.2014 0:11 | 17 views | 0 comments

Gary Swaby at The Koalition writes: Since our beloved Ezio Auditore ran his course in the Assassins Creed series, it has felt like theres been a clear void in the series. Sure, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag was a great game on its own, but its hard to hold it in the same regard as Assassins Creed II and Brotherhood. Assassins Creed III had already left a bad impression on some gamers, so it was going to take something exceptional to get people to love the series the way they once did. Along comes Assassins Creed: Unity, with its great emphasis on co-operative gameplay. Im knee-deep into the experience already, and the feeling is much like playing Assassins Creed II for the first time. Read on to learn the good and the bad.
